Be careful about getting your legal advice online (even from my blog!) As a rule, attorneys spend an inordinate amount of time making sure that their blog posts are not only well written, but are legally accurate. The problem is, however, once a blog is posted, no effort is expended to ensure that the blog continues to be accurate. Laws change, statutes are amended, and court decisions are reversed. That having been said, there is no guarantee that the legal information posted yesterday is still good advice today. Take my blog: just five months ago, I posted that it’s illegal to drive with ANY amount of THC in one’s system. It turns out that this law may no longer be enforceable. Last week, an Arizona Supreme Court decision announced that this provision of its law is unconstitutional. If Pennsylvania courts are persuaded by this case, the law that I had posted five months ago will no longer be accurate. Self conducted online research is a good first step in determining your rights, but your conclusions should always be verified by a competent expert.
