Be careful how you identify yourself. Identity and names of - TopicsExpress

Be careful how you identify yourself. Identity and names of colonizers that we inherit (from our mother, father, guardian, or other) is a form of hybridization of “culture” (to cultivate, to train, to educate). That further renders oppressed people to a point where we become the producers, sellers, and consumers of a system that causes great pain and suffering to ourselves. When someone identifies as an American, African, Colombian and a plethora of other names, which bluntly represent the brand-names of “slave-masters” and mass murderers, we have to consider what we are tying and identifying our being to. It’s been noted that Africa was once known as Alkebulan: Arabic for The Land of The Blacks.” It was also known as Ethiopia, which is the English transliteration of the Greek word Aithiopia, which literally means burnt face.” It is also believed that the name derived from the Egyptian Word Afru-ika or Motherland. There were various names and it was never a uniform identity throughout the entire continent, but many historians trace the current name in reference to a Roman general known as Scipio Africanus. Even in present day African, countries and inner locations are branded by France, Britain, Portugal, Germany (which lost territories after WWI), Belgium, Italy and so on. America as well, the name America first appeared in the “Cosmographic Introdutio” of Weldseemuller or Waltzemuller, of St. Die, in the Vosges; in a book published in 1507. He gave the name America to the New World, because it was discovered by Americus Vesputius. My point is, a name carries an important legacy; most of us carry the brand-names of “slave-masters” from Europe that represents the branding for a “conquered” people, demographic, and a body of land that is associated with property and the preservation of domination upon a people.Oppression and isolation starts in a name that doesnt even represent us. A history of saved and nourished sound-waves that do not serve us any purpose to our current being. One of the greatest ways to completely render people of knowing their history is by creating hybridized-relationships. Where you name the people you’ve killed, through direct or indirect colonization, and you force them to give birth under your rule and to carry your name/culture without them knowing how much power is being taken away. We have their names, but we never got their corrupt power. We have their names because a few generations ago we were their property. These names serve us no purpose, a name means nothing, a status means nothing, jurisdiction, adjudication is nothing with these names.
