Be careful of backbiting online or offline This is something that people fall into very easily - especially in these days when everyone has an opinion on everything. Remember, if you dont have anything good to say, then remain silent. This is better for you, trust me. Obviously there are exceptions - such as when addressing an issue that affects the Muslims as a whole, or when a fitna has become widespread and open, or when warning against the people of innovation etc. But realistically, many of us are not able to distinguish the truth from falsehood therefore we should stick to sharing ayaat from the Quran, ahadeeth and the words of the scholars. This is safer than speaking about issues where we might fall into backbiting. ...And neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. (Quran: 49:12)
