The rock is approximately 60 feet. The big split you see in the middle is a sign of water erosion and you can see water erosion at the base of the rock also, showing that water once came from where the rock stands. The surrounding area is the desert near Mount Sinai. It appears as if a huge amount of water gushed out and split the rock in half. This perfectly matches the Bibical account of Exodus 17:5-6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.
