Be more like Jesus - James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? [Read James 2:14-17] As wonderful as education is, learning the theory without practicalizing it is as good as not learning it at all. No wonder employers of labour would always ask for job experience because they know anybody can say what they know but only few can practicalize what they know. Jesus is a perfect example of someone who did not only teach theory but also backed up His words with practicals. In Mk 6:34-44 and 8:1-9 we find out that after Jesus fed the people with word (theory), he also fed them with food (practical). Afterall, what good is preaching to a hungry brother when you cannot buy him food? (James 2:15-16) Dorcas was also a disciple who integrated her theory of Christ with practicals. Acts 9:36 says Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. From this verse we can see three important qualities of Dorcas. First, she was a disciple which signifies she was a child of God; secondly, she was full of good works which shows she was anointed and thus interceded for others and thirdly, she did almsdeed which shows how well she gave the needy. No wonder even in death the whole community rose up for her. Today, the world is full of theoretical Christians that have not made any impact in their immediate environments. Beloved, after you leave your neighbourhood or place of employment what would people say about you? Can it be said that you touched their lives the way Jesus would do? I pray that God would grant you the grace to be more like Him in Jesus Name. Do have an awesome week. Good Morning.
