Allowing, yourself some extra travel time and plenty of distance (general rule thumb is to allow 1 vehicle length between yourself and the vehicle in front of you for every 10 miles an hour traveling speed of your vehicles.) can be your biggest life saver. Be sure too keep in mind to account for any extra vehicle load and or fluids (1gal. water=8lbs) that you may have on broad, also increase youre stopping distance; and to adjust or compensate for your extra payload in your stopping distance.
