Be sure to tune in by 3:30 EST for an example of a musical hymn with a macaronic text... its a fantasia on the traditional Christmas carol In Dulci Jubilo, better known as Good Christian Men, Rejoice. What you may not know is that the original text to it is a hybrid of middle ages German and Latin- which makes it macaronic. So... what is Macaronic, you might ask? Its a linguistic term with roots that do actually refer to pasta, as a coarse, or peasant fare for those that cant keep their languages straight, either- with all the perjorative connotations that it would suggest.
