Be wary of touch-screen voting machines. This sort of thing seems to happen fairly regularly with them. It could be a simple calibration error as they claim. It could be deliberate tampering. Either way, you the voter need to pay attention and verify that your vote is being registered as you intend. This problem is specific to touch-screens. There are other, much more reliable, electronic systems out there. My own precinct uses one with a select wheel and enter button (Hart InterCivic eSlate). No erroneous selections. It displays your choices back to you on the screen for confirmation. It records your choices on paper and shows that to you for a final confirmation before committing your vote.
