[Beane] was very courageous and very convicted about what hes trying to do, said Theo Epstein, Cubs president of baseball operations. He probably already had the best team in baseball and made them a lot better -- getting two outstanding pitchers -- and [he] put his team in a position to win the World Series. That is something I really admire. Theres a lot of hesitation in the game these days with respect to giving up impact young players, and he knew what he wanted to get and wasnt afraid, and it was great to deal with him.
