Bear Paw Bowmen Archery Club 1865 Hwy 2 - TopicsExpress

Bear Paw Bowmen Archery Club 1865 Hwy 2 East Havre, MT 59501 Dear Owner/Manager: On June 21 - 22, 2014, the Bear Paw Bowmen Archery Club will be hosting their 16TH annual Barber Ranch- 2 Day Archery Shoot in the beautiful Bear Paw Mountains, South of Havre, MT. Although a small club, with less than 60 members, our Barber Ranch- 2 Day Archery Shoot has became one of the premier archery events in the State. With the concept of family sport and fun in mind, the shoot has become an annual family vacation spot for well over 400 shooters and families and continues to grow every year. In fact, the shoot has become somewhat of an international event, with equal amounts of Canadian shooters as well as shooters from several neighboring states. The Barber Ranch Shoot is unique in the fact that is hosted on private land, 25 miles south of anything that closely resembles civilization by Frank and Bettie Barber. There are no phones, cell phone service, electricity or amenities. Once there, the site becomes a “mini city”, with all families becoming one. There are 80 targets set over four courses that cover approximately 4 miles of mountain terrain. There are also several fun shoots for all to participate in the evenings. Shooters include all classes and all styles, from all ages 1 years to 80 years and everything in between. There are competitors, families and friends shooting together and all enjoying a free baron of beef barbeque on Saturday night, provided by the club. On Sunday afternoon, following the competitions and awards, the club offers numerous raffles, door prizes and bonus prizes. Each year club members attempt to solicit as many local and national donations as possible in order to try to ensure that EVERYONE leaves with at least one prize. Although this is a tedious and labor intensive effort by club members, it is well worth the time, as most local merchants are more than eager to donate something, no matter how small. All contributions are acknowledged in the shoot program and banners around the course site. Special sponsors are acknowledged with their corporate logos on the large club trailer. All proceeds from the shoots are donated to local charities, scholarship funds and community improvement issues voted on by the members. This year a portion of the proceeds are going to the Frank and Bettie Barber Scholarship Fund, established at Montana State University Northern. The scholarship(s) are to be awarded to graduating seniors of Havre High School or Chinook High School who wish to further their education locally. The scholarship fund was established after last years Barber Ranch Shoot through the efforts of the club, fellow archers and long time friends. We can think of no better living, lasting or tangible “thank you” than to put the Barber name on these scholarships. The Barbers have graciously allowed us to be “stewards” of their precious land for one week per year and have watched this motley crew of archery enthusiasts grow into the mini city of friends and competitors that is the Barber Ranch Shoot. We would like to have the opportunity for you to donate, no matter how small, to this very worthy and ever growing event. Your contribution, no matter how small, will be acknowledged with great pride to all participants. We hope that we can add your name to our donor list and make our shoot an even bigger success this year than in the past. Please contact me at the below email address should you have any questions regarding this wonderful event. Or check out our website at bearpawbowmen. We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you can help us maintain the family aspect of the archery experience. Respectfully yours, Clyde R. Thomas Jr., Bear Paw Bowmen, President 1865 Hwy 2 East Havre, MT 59501 (406) 265-4572 [email protected]
