Bear is for sale! This is very regretful and I hope its OK to put him here before I list him in a wider forum, as Id love to stay in contact with his new owner and see him out and about. Hes 12 rising 13, East Coast bred and is a buckskin who goes a very showy bright gold with dapples in summer. Hes 15.3 but MASSIVE through the barrel so he rides like a much bigger horse. Only had three owners and the last two are Eloise and me. Hes a very versatile guy. He will happily event to Training level and has been to pretty much everything from A & P hunter classes, derby days, Western treks, XC clinics, showjumping etc. Hes a very honest and safe jumper, he will jump pretty much anything you put him at and is clever enough to climb over things if he gets too close. Hes saved me any number of times when Ive got it wrong. He can do nice dressage but neither of us are super interested in it so Ive never spent a whole lot of time on it. He won Heavyweight hunter, Handy hunter and Teams Chase at the 2014 hunter trials and came 4th in the open class. Hes good fun to take out, most of the time you get some ribbons. Bears a totally point and shoot hunter. There is honestly nothing on the hunt field that Id hesitate to put him at: gates, tape, downhill, angles, posts, hedges, he does it all. He prefers full wire, he thinks spars are for sissies : ) Hes dragged, whipped, been lent to the master. Doesnt mind watching from a hill or being right up in the action: hes completely happy anywhere in the field. Will still jump even when he has a possum hanging under him and 5 metres of drag line wrapped around his legs! Hes hunted with Waitemata, Taupo, Pakuranga, Northland and Kaipara, and he loves to go on trips away. Hes completely safe on the road or the beach, hes pretty much bombproof out and about and in company. He has given pony rides many times at Playcentre, lead rein classes at fun days, poses as a unicorn for little girls parties and puts up with being dressed up for ridiculous pony parties. Never had an unsound day in his life and has excellent feet, never throws shoes between shoeings. Excellent to shoe, float, truck, clip, do anything with. Hes a very good doer, can pretty much get by without any hard feeding at all. His ideal owner would be someone who wants to do a bit of everything. His great love is hunting and he is so brilliant at it that it would be great if he had someone who shared his passion. He likes to get out and about and will turn his hoof to anything. He is so couch-like and safe to ride, so he would suit someone who needs a confidence boost and a reliable easy steed. He can go months without work and is just the same when you get on him. Ive had him for 4 years and he has been awesome while Ive had a young family as he just fits in round my life, but now that the kids are a bit older Im looking for something that I can bring on and I think he should go to someone who can benefit from his expertise. Heres a video of him doing his thing: youtu.be/vD4z5M9DHa4
