Bear with me on this; We are all photographers and to some extent - TopicsExpress

Bear with me on this; We are all photographers and to some extent image makers. Photographers find the moment while image makers design the moment. By that I am talking about all the post production used in the name of perfection.I am not here to discredit the art of image making because in truth I am an image maker as well. I notice that our culture has leaned away from photography as an art form between an artist, a subject and a camera in favor of an artist, a subject and any of a host of digital media. Those of us in business are often heard complaining about potential clients not wanting to pay. Well, to be honest technology has made it so that almost anyone with a half decent eye and a computer can produce something amazing. Truth is, all image makers are not photographers. Now before you all get up in arms, all that was said to get you to thinking about your chosen craft. I propose a friendly challenge. Sometime within this week, shoot an image of something you love and post it straight from the camera/memory card. Please shoot in Jpg so you wont be tempted to do anything digital. Dont even watermark it. I dont care which setting you use, just do it all in camera. I will shoot manually but I am a glutton for punishment. You can use filters, reflectors, light modifiers, strobes, hotlights or any other analogue multiplier but nothing digital. No Portrait Pro, Photoshop, Aperature, Lightroom, Gimp or any of that. The first time you image is to see a computer is for posting. You cannot even crop. How many will follow me into this? Lets be photographers! Lets go insane loving our craft and sharing our highs and lows. We will still be image makers but primarily being a photographer is what shall set us apart. So, whos down?
