Bear with us, here: The cops were doing what they are trained to do, keep moneyed folks safe from any possible threats to their property (which in this case the Fullerton law enforcers saw that perceived threat to be a houseless Kelly Thomas). So long as police do their jobs, protect and serve people with resources, they can beat an unarmed, disabled, homeless man to death and get away with it. What is stopping them? Certainly not political objection. The police have gotten away with killing Manuel Diaz, Kimani Gray, Miriam Carey, and thousands of other unarmed innocents.
