Beating the Black Myth! All the fashion mags have stated for years - TopicsExpress

Beating the Black Myth! All the fashion mags have stated for years that everyone should own a pair of black pants and a little black dress, because they are slimming and suit everyone. I am here to clarify this huge myth! Black and Pure White, are Cool, Intense, Bright, Clear colours that only look great on men and women with a cool (blue) and clear undertone to their skin. So if you have a cool, muted undertone, or a warm, clear or muted undertone, then you need to steer clear of black altogether. It is a statistical fact that in NZ only about 25% of the population have Winter colouring (cool, clear skin tone) and yet I would say 95% of the population predominantly wear black! Did you know that wearing black draws attention to your body, because it is such an intense, bright colour and that it can age you by creating shadow under your eyes and jawline, and enhance dark circles and fine lines, unless you have Winter colouring. There is so much choice in colours for pants, skirts and jackets, cardys now, that you can avoid black altogether and create a harmonious look when you wear all of the same undertone and intensity in your clothing, whether you have warm or cool colouring. If you wear a warm or muted coloured with black pants or a top, then the eye immediately goes straight to the black, as it is the most intense colour and does not harmonize with warm or muted colours, so you end up with a disconnected look, where the line of the top or pant your are wearing black starts and ends. A well coordinated outfit will lead your eye from the persons face, right down to their feet and you will see the person as a whole, not visually cut off in an area by a colour. I have attached photos to show you this. Hope this will encourage you to abandon black and to wear more colour ;) If youre not sure what colours suit you, then book in for a professional Colour Consultation, so I can show you which colours flatter your skin tone and your contrast between your hair, eyes and complexion. Then you can shop in confidence, knowing that everything you buy in your colours will automatically coordinate, right down to your footwear, handbags, nail polish, jewellery, makeup and hair colours. And then people will see you, not just the black!
