Beautiful Armenian peasant/folk song -- Yerko Kouirenk, yerkous el - TopicsExpress

Beautiful Armenian peasant/folk song -- Yerko Kouirenk, yerkous el mi boi-- (We are two sisters with the same height). Arranged beautifully for 4 voice quartet (2 males/2 females) and folk ensemble by Tatoul Altounian. The story behind this song is that 2 girls tell the boys in the village, in so many words, not to fall in love with both sisters from the same household(since they are of the same height and complexion), take one or the other. Since this is a peasant song and most Armenian villages in Iranian Azerbaijan/Caucas regions spoke a mixture of Armenian + Azerbaijani, there are a few Azerbaijani/Persian words in this song: Soy => Tayfa/Tribe igit => Young man Maral => Deer => indirectly beautiful jeyran ==>Gazelle ==> indirectly beautiful Zulal(I think Persian/Arabic) => clear Jivan/javan(from Persian) => young person Baghcha(Persian) ==>garden
