Beautiful, and beautifully written, story on wilderness, love and profound loss. As someone who also has experienced these things, lived and found love, of several varieties, in the West--though certainly not living in such a wild place as Gary Ferguson and his wife did, nor for nearly as long--it more than reverberates within me a feeling of home, a sense of belonging. Kindred spirits... True, this can be had anywhere, and must be had anywhere, but in the actual experiences of living, of traveling, of finding new, wild places, and taking a chance--some new, wild, even foreign places become a resting place, become home. They just do. The West, namely the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming and Montana, then a year later in the Front Range mountains of northern Colorado, and the Front Range urban corridor were--and still are--that for me. And the Canyons and Red Rocks of Southern Utah, valleys and foothills of the Rockies, and, finally,Yellowstone became the final resting place for his wife-- a lifelong lover of the West, wilderness and wildness that is there, in the American West, unlike any other place in the lower 48. npca.org/news/magazine/all-issues/2015/winter/at-rest-in-yellowstone.html
