Beautiful day for a solo drive to Bloomington today...got a bottom dwelling scum sucking waste eating pleco for Henrys tank. I had a name picked out for him...but Im not bitter, so the SECOND name that came to mind was Harvey. Shopped at Sahara Mart, made a trip into Kroger and Sams, and then to Petsmart & Petco. While over there, I went into a favorite pet store of mine & Moms, called Delilahs. Mom and I tried to ignore the fact that they sold dogs & cats because she is also into homeopathic medicine and has a lot of hard to find dog meds & remedies you cant find around here. I remember Mom and I going into the old store, before it burnt, and stepping over Delilah, the old St. Bernard and talking natural feeding, all the while ignoring the dirty little secret. Today I thought I might find something to help with Buds itching, so I put on my blinders and ventured in. I was behind a shelf when I heard the owners daughter and an apparent regular customer discussing puppies. The customer told her she would have some for her when she went on her next trip. The owners daughter asked what she could expect. Customer: I dunno. Hopefully Schnauzers. Ive been wanting one. Owners Daughter: Nah. They dont move well for me. Find me some cuter ones. Seriously????? THIS is why I am against dog selling pet stores---dogs are not product...they are living, breathing things. You cant go to a store and expect to buy a baby...Ill take that one with blue eyes. RESCUE! Contact S.A.F.E if you want a puppy or kitty, or a wonderful older dog! Buy a puppy from a breeder...do your research! Most importantly, DONT SHOP AT DELILAHS, or any other store where puppies are a product. Im off my soapbox now...
