Beauty is what we call a Diamond in the Ruff. Sadly she has been with us here at the shelter for nearly two months. She has a great personality, walks great on a leash, knows how to sit, is good with children and other dogs, but is passed by everyday. Sadly black dogs are often and almost always passed up for Golden, Chocolate and lighter colored adoptable animals. We are guessing that the general public is not aware of how doomed black dogs are when they are brought to a pound because black dogs, particularly black labs or lab mixes, are euthanized at a horrifying rate at many pounds & shelters because people pass them up for lighter colored dogs. If you are thinking about adopting a dog please dont overlook black dogs because they are just as loving & wonderful as lighter colored dogs! In an effort to help Beauty find the loving home she deserves she has recently joined our Pawsitive K9 4H Training Program and has proven to be magnificent. She is so gently and well behaved that her handler Alyssa is but a mere 10 years old and really enjoys working with her. Beauty also recently visited our low cost spay and neuter clinic and is ready to go home with her new loving family on the same day as her adoption.
