September/October Newsletter A big welcome to everyone new and old we hope you have all had a great summer and are ready for a great scouting year ahead. All ready we have had our first family camp, it was a great success and something we hope to do again next year. There is a consent form and photo permission form attached to the back of the newsletter this must be completed for every child we need this information for emergency we must renew these. Beavers start at 6.00pm Cubs and scouts start at 7.00pm at the end of last year we noticed a lot of people coming late this delays the programme for that night. We understand that sometimes there is a hold up but could everyone please try and be here on time. Group Phone This year we will be using the group phone again please only contact the number below and not any other leader numbers you may have. We need our own time too. Your call may not be answered straight away but will be returned ASAP. The group phone number is 07798628240. Youth Service St Andrews church in Port Glasgow town centre are holding their yearly youth service on the 5th of October meeting at the church at 11am and the service should be finished for 12.30pm. Afterwards for Cubs only there is a small fun day this will finish at 3pm any cubs attending the fun day will need to bring a packed lunch an extra drink and change of shoes/trousers. It is very important that everyone goes to the service, St Andrews church help us throughout the year with lots of different things. We also receive grants from them throughout the year so a way of saying thank you is to go along to the service. Membership fees (Capitation fees) It is that time of year when capitation fees are due. Everyone who is involved in scouting must pay this fee it goes towards insurance and running of Scout HQ. For more information please visit: https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/4078/uk-headquarters-membership-subscriptions?cat=55,261&moduleID=10 The cost of capitation this year is £25 this year we are asking for it in 2 half’s £13 before Monday the 6th of October and the final £12 before Monday the 3rd of November. You can pay it up weekly by using our camp bank or by paying the full amounts on the dates above. Science centre We will be going to the science centre on the 11th of October, we will travel by train again. We will meet at the car park in the Port Town across from Greggs at 9.45am and arriving back at the car park at 5pm. The cost of this trip is £10 this includes entry to the science centre and train ticket. All children must bring a packed lunch and money if they want to buy anything from the shop. We need your help! We are looking for parents help in a few different roles First we need a few parents to help at Tuck Shop. The parents could work a rota out between them all so you dont have to commit every week. Second of all we need some to act as a treasure and keep our books in check (no cash handing). Third of all me need a group of parents to come together and become a fundraising committee. We need money to keep going with our work. We are in desperate need of a few thing but without money we cant get them to make your childs experience even better. If you can help please get in touch. Halloween Camp Beavers – Our Halloween Camp will take place from the 25th to 26th of October. We will meet at Inverkip Primary School at 12.30pm on the Saturday and should be picked up on the Sunday at 11.30am again at Inverkip Primary. We will be sleeping inside the lodge, the cost of the camp will be £10. Cubs & Scouts our Halloween camp will take place from the 24th to 26th October. We will meet at Inverkip Primary at 6.30pm on the Friday and should be picked up again at Inverkip Primary at 11.30am. Cubs will be sleeping inside Scouts may have an option to sleep outside depending on weather. The cost of the camp will be £15. We will be off on Monday the 13th and 20th of October for the October holiday!
