Becareful out there peeps! #crimewatch #community #kuching - OurYouth.my Car thief escapes, undeterred by shots fired into air KUCHING: Police were forced to fire two warning shots when trying to apprehend a car thief who acted aggressively at King Centre here on Saturday evening. The local Chinese man almost mowed down a cop who had ordered him to come out from his Perodua Kenari. Kuching deputy police chief Supt Abang Ahmad Abang Julai when contacted yesterday said the policeman sustained minor injuries. “The suspect drove so fast while trying to escape that he almost rammed the policeman. The cop sustained minor injuries on the hand after being struck by the rear mirror,” he said. “Following the aggressive act, the cops were forced to fire into the air as a warning. “The suspect did not stop but drove towards Jalan Tun Jugah against the movement of traffic,” he added. He said police have identified the suspect and are tracking him. In the around 5pm incident, a police team from Kuching headquarters ambushed the Perodua Kenari believed stolen in Padungan three days ago. The vehicle was found with a punctured tyre behind a shopping mall at Jalan Song around 2am yesterday. It was towed back to police headquarters.
