Because I associated hymns with congregational singing, I didnt sing hymns as a soloist when I began as a teenager in the 1960s. Almost 50 years later, not much has changed. One of my 2015 music resolutions is to perform as a soloist some hymns I love but rarely hear sung in church services. Although several hymns use the melody of Finlandia, the most well known and my favorite it Be Still, My Soul.
