Because the Scamp is pure engine swap we had a lot of expected plumbing to do to get the car ready for IDRC. Running the JDM Aristo ECU leaves a HUGH amount of power on the table and it was beyond impossible for me to get the car to launch with the A340 as the Aristo torque converter is super tight. What was impressive was an increase of 9 mph from Daves 2013 effort with the stock Aristo twins by merely swapping to the Comp 6767 Billet centered/ billet conpressor wheel triplex ceramic turbo! I might have been able to trap higher than 109 but I kept hitting fuel cut for both boost and top speed limiters. 109 is certainly a mid 12 second trap speed but with the trans holding us back we just couldnt launch the car on even 1psi of boost. As a result we were stuck with a dismal best of 13.81 @ 109.02 on a 2.49 60ft time. I had to keep the boost set to ~14 psi or it would cut the fuel. I know these kind of numbers seem like a joke to those of us in the 2J community but were trying to document going through the stages of 2014 combinations and what you can expect when you do the same at home. In case anyone wants to do the math the car weighs 3,620 with a 170 pound driver. Next step we will take the car to the dyno to verify the Comp turbo upgrade horsepower, (currently we think about 365 rwhp in our estimates), and then head back to the shop to get the Diyautotune Megasquirt MS3pro, Injector Dynamics ID1300 injectors and true flex fuel capability installed to run the car. Wed like to see just what will happen to the horsepower with the MS3pro and 20 to 21 psi. Dave estimates nearly 500rwhp. Im begging him for a set of decent brake pads for those 13 rotors! After confirming we can shift the a340 with the GPIO through CAN we will need to take a serious look into our transmission to get the power down. A 2,000 rpm stall speed just wont cut it on a 2J so we have to dig in and do better. At 25 psi and E85 we think we can make over 620hp to the tires. This would give us estimated 130 mph trap speeds in the 1/4 mile. Weve heard of guys that brag about their 600+ hp stroker Windsors in lighter cars actually trapping under 110 in the 1/4 mile. Must be a few mules in their paddock! ;) If we can do this right we will have a 10 second car that idles like a Lexus and still return excellent fuel economy. My best RT was a .057, Dave said, that is fighter pilot fast! This is the only two runs I got with the Gopro. The auto is a bit slow out of the hole but on the Highway, the Scamp is quick, untill it hits the factory speed limiter :( So Far the car has been a lot of fun. It only gets faster from here on out! Thanks to our gracious sponsors for helping us on the project!
