This includes financially supporting the child after a divorce. In most cases, one parent will pay child support to the other parent to assist in the day to day expenses, education and welfare of the child. In most cases, a parent will pay child support until the child turns 18 years of age. If the child is still attending high school when he or she turns 18, child support will continue until the child graduates from high school or turns 19, whichever occurs first. However, if a child is not on track to graduate high school before the age of 19, child support may terminate on the child’s 19th birthday.
