Because there seems to be little correlation between actual effort expended in work and the return received, maybe it is time to uncouple ability to have the resources needed to live a regionally acceptable life from the treadmill of wage labor. We as a society could set a regionally acceptable wealth floor and assure that each person has at least those resources. Traditional greed based, no limits capitalism has failed in that respect. But a human centered ( rather than profit centered) and reasonably constrained capitalism might provide a more suitable result. Do you really just want to be cheap labor for some capitalist?
