Becketts stay in the hospital last week went very well. As usual, - TopicsExpress

Becketts stay in the hospital last week went very well. As usual, he didnt start chemo until late Monday night, so that day seemed to drag on for him. He loved standing at his door and pointing out all of the screws on the hinges. He also had a visit from volunteer dog named Bruno with a rather awkward talent of whispering. The poor dog sounded like he had bronchitis. On Tuesday grandma came up and spent the day walking around the nurses station and playing catch. He loves walking around, but has to hold your hand at all times. It gets a little tricky when he demands both hands and you also have to steer the IV pole. Nonny and Aunt Becca came down on Wednesday and spent the evening playing baseball and eating dinner with him. The Dr was a little concerned that we brought Becketts real baseballs and wooden bat to play with, so we brought in a wiffle bat and balls to put everyone at ease. He was discharged on Thursday afternoon even though he had a slight fever. The Dr was confident that the fever was just a side effect of the chemo and would eventually fade. (She was right). Beckett was able to attend the #hopeshaven 4th annual #strikeoutleukemia softball tournament and cheer on the #beckettstrong team. Many friends and family were there in support of him and this great event, but poor B was just exhausted and not his usual social self. Today we are back in the Drs office to check his blood levels and as we expected from his lack of energy this weekend, Beckett needs both platelets and red blood. His immune system is still doing well and his electrolytes and all other labs looks normal. Special thanks to Uncle Lee for taking charge of the #beckettstrong movement and getting the word out on the shirts and stickers. We would also like to thank the entire Cantillon fam and crew (they are big) and everyone else who came out to support #beckettstrong this weekend.
