Becky Chandler responded: Like when Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton, or New England threatened to secede or when half the country actually did try to secede? What guys like you, and Establishment pontificators such as Chris Matthews, have fond memories of is a period from the late 1930s, into the Reagan era when for the most part the Republican Party held the Democratic Partys coats (before joining in the plunder themselves) as they robbed the treasury, collectivized the nation, made war and handed out out spoils to special interests. That is still the case, its just that to keep a somewhat more informed and enlightened public entertained and duped, there has to be more apparent competition –the differences are small in congress, all the big issues are agreed on. On foreign policy hardly any real disagreements. There are subtle difference in what they want to spend taxpayers’ money on, but they are as united as they can be with regard to their view that they know better than the long suffering taxpayers how to spend their money This paragraph from a 2011 article in USA Today, kind of says it all. usat.ly/1lumG7y : “Most of the … nation’s governors are leaving their state capitals for the annual winter meeting here of the National Governors Association…. The 103-year-old group has a reputation for bipartisanship. ‘If you were to sit in on one of those governors-only sessions, if you didn’t already know, you wouldn’t be able to tell who the Democrats and who the Republicans are,’ Scheppach said.” [Apparently Ray Scheppach is the executive director of this organization]
