Become an ethical consumer and buy the most “responsibly produced” items available in the market. In this world of ‘demand and supply’, your conscious act will eventually change what is available on the shelves. Refuse to buy stuff that trashes the planet or harms its inhabitants in any way. Use products that are organic, do not have toxic additives and are easily recyclable. Buy, own, use and dispose of less stuff. Recycle and reuse it to the max. Think of new ways to share your stuff with others. Live as low impact as you can manage. Create car pools, use public transport, or walk. Use a private vehicle only when essential. Do not define yourself, communicate your identity, or seek meaning in life through the stuff you own; evaluate your worth by your values, the strength of your friendships, the richness of your hobbies and your civic endeavors. Work together with other citizens to strengthen laws and business practices that focus upon increasing efficiency and reducing waste. Demand cleaner production systems.
