Becoming what we defend against. Countless times in my life I have - TopicsExpress

Becoming what we defend against. Countless times in my life I have experienced the interesting process of becoming what I fear. Defense is a smoke screen that shrouds everyone in it. For many years I desperately wanted to learn not to judge others. I focused attention and practiced conscious loving. Though often I felt judged, I wondered how I could “avoid” this feeling. “Ah ha!” That thought led me to a very important piece of the puzzle. I realized I had never stopped judging. I had just shifted the judgment to myself. I had to back up. The judgment was the smokescreen of a deeper pain which really needed healing not more denial. My purpose in life is to no longer see a need for resistance. But resisting resistance is still resisting. It was so obvious to me that I was only dealing with the effect and not the cause. All our reactions stem from a deeper, perhaps hidden pain or desire. When we stop defending and start loving on a deeply personal level, we shift our perception of our world and our relationships within it. Peace, Compassion, Wisdom. ~M~
