Been a hectic week at the sales and we are finished buying for the year now. We ended up getting six this week which takes our total to nineteen. Hopefully theres a star or two among them. We have a big days racing ahead at home (5) and here in Newmarket where we run Cappella Sansevero in the Middle Park Gr1. Starting in Dundalk we run Sacrificial in the first maiden where hes drawn the outside birth of 14! This is not ideal but you can get away with it in maidens. I think this lad is a lovely colt and he probably should have won by now but he has ran into some decent sorts. Hopefully he can draw here and finish his season on a winning note. Bairns at Bay is a typical Big Bad Bob filly thats having her first start and I think she will be up to winning a small maiden this winter. I think she will need the experience tonight but one things for sure she will try hard as she loves galloping. Belts and Braces probably missed her chance in Down Royal earlier in the summer and she has been disappointing. This could be her last start before she goes to the sales later on. Toccata Blue is a grand sort but Im not so sure hes at his best at Dundalk. His owner is over from Paris tonight so it suits to run him and depending on how he runs will determine wether we carry on or stop for the year. Obliterator is having is first start for a while after having a wind op and been gelded since his poor run at Ascot. He is training well but the race is coming about a fortnight too soon. I expect he will need the run but should run well to a point. I just need to see where we are with him for next season. Now for the Middle Park. Unfortunately for everyone the rain that has fallen has left the ground very soft and it could have a major bearing on the race. Ive spoken with Richard Hannon Jnr and hes not that bothered that it will hinder Ivawood. In my opinion hes the standout colt of the season and he will be a hard nut to crack today. My lad has been a star all year and I know he wont really mind the ground or at least he will go through it. Ive been very happy with his prep and all things being equal and he runs his normal genuine race then Id expect to finish in the frame. We have two at Ascot tomorrow and I cant wait to get back home to Glenburnie after that, its been a bloody long week! HGD
