Been awhile since we did much updating.. Been a rough week or so but I am back (wifes still not doing well) First update is regarding our reusable canning lids.. we had our FIRST lid failure from Tattler. I inspect fairly often but i missed this as there was mold in the jar and the seal was broken... Carrots. We also lost one from 4 ever recap (though no mold in it). Going to continue inspecting ALL lids regularly as always and paying a bit more attention to any resealables as they are hard to see the seal gone without lifting them. Not sure how i feel about the resealables with the number of losses. Ive not had a standard lid once sealed break seal while on the shelf. Will ponder this greatly and perhaps if there is doubt I will use them for dry goods and trust my canning to standard lids. I hate that as i prefer to reuse but it is what it is. Will keep trying on less important canning and see how they fair. Currently there are green beans and meats with reusable lids.
