Been contemplating... I am, you are we are Australians - As the son of both migrants it is a privilege to call this land home. Thank you to the first Australians on this last we are on. There has been so much talk in the media and I feel there is a tremendous cultural war brewing. I feel there is a sentiment in the community that is feeling uneasy with the changes to our values. From a brand perspective I get it. Every conduit that is Australian should live our our values. To give an example, when you have new staff or new immigrants to a organisation/community, if they do not share your values, it does affect your culture. Some current conflicts in values include new development around Brisbanes West End and the present community, or the new developments in Fortitude Valley and the music precinct. You can see the current values conflict between Secularists and Christians. And more broadly you can see the conflict between some Muslim communities (those that support ISIS) and the broader Australian community. The question should be asked what is our values, what are we prepared to be easy going on and what are we going to say no to. If you dont know who you are, the values you represent, you open yourself up for other groups to either dictate or change who you are as a community and more broadly as a nation. Understanding who you are and what you represent should form the basis of who we are and who we want to become.
