Been doing a bit of experimenting. I have attempted to root cuttings over the years...many times in many different ways. My success rate has been between okay and not so much. During this time of experimentation, I have acquired a heavy duty heating mat, thermostat, different potting medium and probably a 70 percent success rate. I dont like 70 percent success rate. :-) I have been seeing the excitement over bag rooting, and finally took the plunge, so to speak, about six weeks ago. I callused with paraffin wrap and root tone until I got a good healthy callus, and then placed them into a bag, exactly following Cesars recommendations. Today, I went and looked at he sixty cuttings. They have been in there approximately three weeks. I know, a little early to expect magic :-). I had used velcro to close the tops of my bags so it was really easy to open them and gently pull out the cuttings to inspect what was up. Out of sixty cuttings, one was well rooted (White Coconut), 57 were continuing to grow their callus and two were starting a very minor bit of rot. Since I was running 70 percent before I tried this, this is an improvement over my previous method. Im keeping them at 85 degrees. Once it is set up, pretty easy peasy.
