Been drinking ... long post .... ok to skip, just hit the LIKE button and move on. Anyone brave enough to read it all, I would love to hear your thoughts lol I still live in Yonkers and im very young, comparatively speaking next to most history in this town ... (im 37) Sadly my opinion is that this town has gone to shit in a lot of respects. Still some good areas, still improvements and potential ... but right now, this moment, not my top choice of places to be bringing my kids up. But our roots are here so we cant/wont move. Can absolutely be worse, but its still sad to feel like that ... With that said, I find it sooooo fascinating how much history is here! I mean RIGHT HERE!!! Fortunes were made and lost. Corporations were founded and collapsed. New industries were discovered! Hell, we had George Washington stop for a peek :) And even present day there is no denying that we have the absolute perfect mix of residential, industrial, commercial property. As opposed to some cities (Detroit, for example) are primarily just 1 of the 3. No matter where you live you are 10-20min from literally ANYTHING. Want busy rural city? 10min away. Want heavy woods for hunting? 15min up the Taconic. How about a trip to the heart of the entire world, Times Square? 15-20min away! Want a gorgeous scenic drive? hit the Saw Mill or BRP for as long as your heart desires. And the best, most valuable part .. no matter where you live, you are never very far from most major highways!! Saw Mill, 87, BRP, Hutch, 95, CCP, you name it! (ok ok, 95 is a pain in the ass to get to .. but its still not far lol) Anyway ... i guess what im saying is that I have such an equal LOVE/HATE relationship with my city! We have no plans of moving any time soon, so hopefully a few things will change/improve before my time is up. I would love to see this city become even a glimmer of the gem it once was. I deeply thank Angie (Bob) and all contributors ... i really look forward to every single post on this page!!! Its an honor to be a member since the beginning.
