Been in the South West today and spoke to a fantastic group of young parents who were all volunteers at the Children’s Centre, and we were talking about the “Jobs” that were available locally to them. Whereas twenty years ago many of these roles would have been Local Authority based, now many of these services have been commissioned out, and the new providers only employ new recruits through agency or on a zero contract basis, often paying minimum wage, little holiday pay, and huge job insecurity.”
