Been mediating on an interaction I had with a visitor to my office this week. After explaining that Habitat builds and sells houses to low-income families, she replied Well Im low-income, can I get a house? I explained to her the process and gave her some info. She was thankful and then left, three precious kids in tow. And my heart was heavy and my spirit burdened as she walked away, and after spending sometime thinking about it, I finally figured out why. Her response Im low-income. No. You HAVE low-income. But that is not your identity. You ARE a child of God. You ARE precious in his sight. You have a voice. You have a place in this world. You belong to a family. And you are worthy of dignity. Our chains are not our circumstance, but our lack of belief in our true identity. The plight of the victim is believing that you ARE a victim, nothing more. Praying the families across this Earth enduring difficult circumstances do not mistake their situation for their identity. God reigns above it all and deemed you worthy enough to sacrifice his own Son. Let us all remember the incredible cost paid for our life, and how the one who paid it said we are worthy.
