Been mowing the flats for the past several days. Wildlife biologist says this is about the best time to mow to avoid killing a lot of little critters, and there is still enough growing season to provide some winter cover. I seen and avoided two tarpons , two black snakes, about a dozen rabbits of all sizes. I did chase down one copper head on the 70 year old Farmall tractor. He was decapitated in a struggle with the bush hog mower.
