Been studying the Big Bang pretty intensely this week. I came across some reports that scientists recently found evidence for INFLATION in the earliest moments of the big bang. Inflation is exactly what it sounds like, A rapid expansion. So...the universe supposedly started with a big explosion and now we have evidence that this explosion ... expanded. I am adding this bit of nonsense to a growing list. Here is that list: 1. There are at least 16 fundamental particles. (Quarks: Up, Down, Charm, Strange, Top, Bottom) (Neutrinos: Electron, Tau, Muon) (Electrons: Electron, Tau, Muon) (Photon, Gluon, Zosson, W Boson) So when you reach the bottom of the stairs, there are really 16 different bottoms... 2. The Planck length. (1.616 x 10-35 meters) This is the size that reality breaks down... Just for comparison here is the size of the diameter of an electron. 5.6 x10-15 m So when you reach the bottom of the stairs again, you actually have 20 orders of magnitude more to go before reaching the bottom... 3. Black Holes. Black Holes are stars which collapse in on themselves and become so gravitationaly powerful that nothing, including light itself cant escape, EXCEPT Light, in the form of gamma radiation. Not all stars are big enough become black holes. EXCEPT A black hole can be made in a super collider like CERN. Black Holes ingest matter like a vacuum. Except that the matter they ingest is actually the anti particles of matter, which have a REPULSIVE gravitational effect not an ATTRACTIVE effect, and they annihilate when they come into contact with regular matter like the stuff a black hole is made of... So magic has a name. It is called a Black Hole. 4. Charge. Back to the electron just for a moment. An electron, is a FUNDAMENTAL particle. Meaning that it is not made of anything else. No internal ingredients. We say that it has a charge of -1. Yet most of the quarks have a 1/3 electron charge or 2/3 electron charge. So an electron and its charge are not the same...but what is an electron without its charge? 5. Time Doesnt actually exist. It is a construct or a WAY of thinking about perception. The present doesnt actually exists because in the moment you perceive it, it becomes the past. When you say the word, now or read the word now, that moment has already gone. 6. The Big Bang. Time was created at the moment of the Big Bang and so asking what came before the Big Bang? is nonsensical. The nothing, from which came the Big Bang was actually a plenum of energy. So Julie Andrews had it right. Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could. That will do for now.
