Been thinking about the Slenderman attempted murder case involving the two young girls. There has been a lot parried back and forth about whether the two possessed the cognitive ability to differentiate between reality and fantasy. I would not be surprised if we see more of these kinds of incidents. I believe we are just beginning to reap what we as a culture have sown. For well over a decade now there has been a concerted effort by some to no longer teach the ability to critically reason to our children. We have politicians who ignore, or claim not to understand, basic scientific processes just to curry favor with segments of the electorate. When our own leaders equate science to mysticism, are events like this really a surprise? Page 12: Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority. s3.amazonaws/texasgop_pre/assets/original/2012Platform_Final.pdf
