Been waiting all day to think of what to post, we were very happy that dad seemed to be more awake today, showed him pictures of family to see if he remembered anyone... for each person I would get a nod or a faint shake of the head... when I asked him if he knew who I was, he shook his head... but I did get a little smile out of him couple times, one was showing him a picture of his bulldog. So I can live with that! Im sure each day for a while will be spent jogging his memory with familiar faces. During our visit today they also did a test run of removing him from the ventilator, it only lasted about 5 min, his heartrate started going up, and when I asked him if he could breathe ok, he shook his head no, but theyre gonna keep trying, a little at a time, maybe tomorrow just a little longer... Also during our visit today, a Dr from Barrows Neurological Institute stopped by to do an assessment on dad. They think he may have a condition known as Central Cord Syndrome which they believe happened when he fractured his C7 Vertebrae in the accident which basically caused an overextension of the spinal cord, and is causing him to not be able to move his upper extremities. The team from Barrows is going to meet to discuss a localized CT scan of the area surrounding his injury & possible corrective surgery... Tomorrows another day... we hope and pray each day for a better one then the last!
