Beethovens Hammerklavier Sonata is on of his late period - TopicsExpress

Beethovens Hammerklavier Sonata is on of his late period masterpieces. Its about 45 minutes long, unusually expansive for a piano sonata. The following made me laugh out loud: Even as progressive a musician as Richard Wagner, who appreciated the work and fully admired the late string quartets, held reservations for what he perceived as a lack of succinctness in its composition. This is quite funny considering a performance of Wagners Ring Cycle takes four days. To say that Wagner was not the most succinct composer is quite an understatement. https://youtube/watch?v=DrbrMZgYBSw
