Before I begin, I want to first make it known that as a freshman linebacker in 1985 for JT, I dislocated both shoulders on the field and in one game I dislocated one of my shoulders 3 times. I kept coming back. So, my heart was and always will be with Big Bad John and like I have heard so many say, I bleed blue. Although I did not attend The Big Game last night I was tuned in to it. A dog fight - they score, we score, back and forth. Now fast forward to the end of the 4th quarter: JT scores and elects to go for the 2pt. conversion instead of kicking the extra point. 2pt. conversion no good, but lets just say they made it and the defense was able to do what they had not done all night - stop Whitehouse offense. Game over, JT wins by 1 and the coaching staff is brilliant. Unfortunately, the decision to go for 2 as opposed to tying the game up did not turn out as expected, but that decision to go for 2 was based on the performance of 3 plus quarters. Maybe the extra point would have been good and maybe the defense would have held firm, but only maybe. Life is lived based on decisions, wars are fought based on decisions, and games are played based on decisions. Whether right or wrong, the coach made that decision to go for 2 and had that been me, today, one day after the lose, I would still feel as though that was the right call. Those kids played their hearts out just like they have done all season long and coach coached his heart out just like he has done all season long. JT got to this point not sole because of the players or the coaching staff. It was a combined effort from both. What does not kill us will only make us stronger, so I am predicting that JTs next opponent will feel the frustrations of last nights loss and have no other choice but to accept the pounding they are about to receive.
