Before I make my request, allow me to share a scripture with you, taken from the book of Luke; “……the man with two coats should share with him who has none.” Winter time is upon us and as hard as it is to believe that in this day & age, when people seem to have an over-abundance of things, there are many who do not have even the most basic of needs…..for example, a warm coat. Several people are joining together in an effort to help distribute coats to children of all ages, right here in Sabine Parish. The minute details will not be finalized until this Tuesday, during our very first meeting at the Many City Hall. But that doesn’t mean that the work can’t begin now! We will establish a list of willing businesses from around the parish that are going to serve as drop-off locations…..for now, I know that if you would like to donate your new or gently used coat, you may do so at Ark-La-Tex Tire in Florien or Family Rental in Many. We are in need of donations for coat sizes that range from infant to that of a high school-aged child. I implore you to share your blessings with a child who does not have a warm coat to wear this winter. I ask for all churches, schools, civic organizations, etc please announce this to your group ASAP and join in the effort! Please remember that kids do not have a say-so in their economic circumstances…..they need our help. And hey, it’s a double benefit…….how many of us could stand to free up some space in our closets?
