Before I post tonights NYC ACC KILL LISTS, I would like to take a moment to share my thoughts about the killing of homeless animals by shelters. Today, I participated in a thread where animal activists were being harshly critical of Paul McCartney because he did not use his concert to preach about veganism. I also read a thread that started with the question why dont we have a single NYC focused animal rights campaign with achievable goals? And then at 6 pm, we start seeing the pleas for dogs and cats that are on local Euthanasia Lists. Those pleas are largely ignored by animal rights activists. Very few advocate for death row animals, even fewer will share an album of pictures or God forbid make a pledge to help a death row animal attract rescue. Yet people are outraged that Paul McCartney doesnt do more. Well, now I am outraged. I am outraged that people who call themselves Vegan Activists could look at a picture of a dog or cat, who is about to die, and do NOTHING. Meanwhile, they are all quite busy attending Tuesdays Fundraiser, Fridays Vegan Drinks or Sundays Selfie Opportunity. I am outraged that NYC activists in particular, knowing full well what is going on at NYC ACC, choose to ignore the problem, because it hurts too much to look at the pictures. Too many pretend activists are motivated more by what feels good for them and what strokes their ego, rather than what will accomplish real change for the animals. If we cannot stop the sanctioned killing of dogs and cats in our shelters, what hope do we have of convincing people to stop eating, wearing, experimenting on and being entertained by animals? No Kill is a cornerstone in the very foundation of animal rights. Think about it.
