Before I run away to the Barbers and get a perm, I would like to mention a huge thank you to our firefighter family from all the Stations we visited and stayed the night at. Their generosity and over whelming support to ensure we were comfortable, fed and even massaged :) with the Horse Rub was really gratefully received and it made us all proud to be firefighters and part of a caring, professional, family. Thank you to CFO Wayne Martin and the Kawakawa Fire Brigade, CFO Snow Buckton of Hikurangi Fire Brigade and the crew from Hikurangi that walked with us to Whangarei Station, To SO Mark Wirihana and the paid staff who opened up their living quarters and even offered to do our washing :), To CFO Darryl Trigg and Ruakaka Fire Brigade who rubbed our sore muscles avoiding our feet lol and even did the guys washing :), To Piri from Waipu Fire Brigade who gave us a cupa tea when we walked through Waipu, To Morrie Doughty of Mangawhai Fire Brigade for A. 54 Years Service, B. Getting us Beds to sleep in, C. Stuffing us with Pizza, D. To Grandma for making us Trifle and E. Allowing Tom, Lorry and Maaka permission to kick Connors butt when he needed it :) and to all the crew there at Mangawhai, To the CFO John Cowpland of Wellsford Fire Brigade including Bradley for coming with us on the 60km leg down to Helesville, welldone Bradley you did your Brigade proud, To CFO Ian Osborne of Helensville Fire Brigade including Patsy from the St Johns Ambulance for mending our injuries from the 60km leg. To FF Elle van Dam who walked with us so as to raise money for her friends family :), To the crew at Kumeu Fire Brigade CFO Andrew Beattie and SSO Simon Shields who cooked for us and lastly to the Paid Staff of Birkenhead Station our home Brigade, SO Shane Doughty and his crew who opened their living quarters to us and the visitors, who cooked the BBQ and tolerated Lorrys snoring coming from the gym. To SFF Rob Harvey who took 822 and the crew Nicola, Peter and Brandon over to support Scottie with BA Sets. Thank you all :) Makes us all very proud to be a Firefighter :) The attached photos are of all the Stations we stayed at. We took a photo when we arrived at the Station and one when we left to start the next leg. When the pager beeps and the alarm sounds, when the doors roll open and you don your gear. Alight the siren respond to the needy, Roll together as a crew, protect the community as a service, look out for one another as a family :) Fire Fight! NZFCT Crew
