Before I set up the next benefit auction, which will be for my dear friend and backup admin Jenn, I need to say something. If you have known me for any length of time you know I am pretty non-confrontational. I try to live and let live, not judge, harm nor offend. However this being said I need to state my position on some recent comments I have received and want to formally recognize. I try hard to help others, to do the right thing and most importantly be honest in all my dealings, especially when it comes to my business page. I hand pick the recipients for my auctions based on apparent need and what I believe is an honest representation of their situation. This being said I hope that despite the obvious abuse by a beneficiary of one of my auctions you will continue to support them my auctions both as vendors and bidders. I recognize what impression it gives when a beneficiary not only obviously spends money they claimed not to have on non essential items such as eating out, night clubs, new items they have bought and other expenses that are frivolous but continues to claim need while doing it. I can honestly say from personal experience in my own life that if you are in real need, then these items would not be part of your spending. I can be honest and say I feel just as used as the people who have come forward. I have first hand experience on a day to day basis of actual financial need and I also know at least 2 of my regular vendors are in the same boat yet still consistently give in these auctions. They do it because they are good people who, like me believe that despite their own dire financial issues they can help others. I want to truly offer my sincerest apologies for having been an unknowing contributor to this persons shameful behavior. There are so many good people in genuine need that could have used the money for actual needs. In return for your continued support of my auctions, I will do everything that I can do to more carefully vet the actual need of the beneficiary.
