Before advocates start criticizing a small city or county pound - TopicsExpress

Before advocates start criticizing a small city or county pound and screaming about euth rates and hollering for no-kill, those advocates need to look at the larger picture - the demographics of the community that supports and funds that facility. Citizens and residents of a particular town or county can improve ACs success rate by volunteering, adopting, spaying/neutering their pets, NOT breeding and NOT dumping animals, and voting for officials who care about the conditions of the citys and countys unwanted AND owned companion animals.... Officials who encourage shelter volunteering and support from community members. Advocates outside the county can help in limited ways: adopt or rescue, or donate to one of Georgias low-cost spay/neuter programs, or lobby the state legislature to make the states laws more life-affirming. Bashing a small, rural AC such as this one for being a small, rural AC is pointless, rude, ignorant, and counterproductive in every way. Do a little homework. Learn what the facilitys available resources are, and why. Help by sharing its animals in need. If you dont live in the county, and help fund it with your tax dollars or influence its policy with your votes, skip the armchair quarterbacking.
