Before coming across the mob of pigs we were on some good buff marks!!! While I took six pigs, this buff made his way out to the middle of the flood plain. Dom convinced me to put a stalk on, as the wind and the direction he was walking was perfect. With an old fence line as cover I stalked out to 100 mtrs in water and mud that got to knee high in some areas. As I sat and waited for an opportunity to close the gap the buff got up after a wallow, spun around and spotted two odd figures in the grass. Having come so far I wasnt ready to give up quite yet. He was still out at over 80 mtrs, Dom who was 20 mtr behind me started to call him in, by crawling away and calling it encouraged the inquisitive bull into 41 mtrs. By this time I was lying flat in the water, trying to figure out which way this scenario would go. I slowly got to my knees took a final range and was faced with this huge bodied bull straight on. As his focus was split between myself and Dom it allowed me to come to full draw and place my 40 pin right over his heart. After watching the arrow hit its mark, I knew the shot was good. Now the only problem was, would he squash me into the mud or step away!!! Luckily for me it was the later, I watched him walk away still trying to work out what had just happened!! The Buff then lie down and pass within a few short minutes of the arrow being loosed. I have hunted Buffalo for several years and to date this is my best going 93 and one of the biggest bodied buff I have come across, he went 27.5,27.5 and 19 inch bases nice thick buff. A great end to an un believable stalk!!! Stay tuned for the video footage, my camera man / back up / therapist and great friend did all the work I just took the shot.
