Before disaster strikes Scripture We had all wandered away like sheep. We had gone our own way. And yet the LORD put all our guilt on him. - Isaiah 53:6 (ERV) Meditation In Plato’s Republic, there is a story of a ship’s crew who decided their captain was mad because he took observations from the stars. The sailors reasoned that a ship sails on the sea and that winds, currents, and tides were therefore the most important points of identification. They locked up their captain in the hold of the vessel and decided to journey on their own. Ultimately, they sailed on to shipwreck. When our points of reference are limited to only ourselves and what we see around us, we’re courting disaster. We end up like the sheep in today’s verse, wandering away on our own, helpless and lost in the consequences of our decisions and penalty of our disobedience. Thankfully, we don’t have to stay that way. God, through His Son Jesus, made a way for us to be forgiven of our sins, find direction, and be rescued. Right now, take a moment to worship your Lord, thanking Him for your salvation. Then think about someone you know who is sailing through life without a captain, wandering without hope, and ask God to help you tell them about Christ. God has shown you His faithful love. Be ready to show it to others without hesitation. Each person matters, and the difference you can make for them is eternal. Prayer God, while organizations like Bible League International are going into all the world with Your truth, use me to go into the smaller world around me to declare You! Amen.
