Before idolizing Wole Soyinka, let us flash back. The orgy of violence and blood letting in our university campuses today is the product of the introduction of cultism into our university system by Wole Soyinka and other six men. It was in 1952 at University colledge, Ibadan that pyrates(seadogs) confraternity was formed by Soyinka and the six. That is the genesis of cultism in our schools. Today, the number of deaths and destructions that have been visited in our campuses as a direct fall out of this ill is enermous. The last time i checked, Soyinka had not resigned his membership of the cult group. I want to bring out this issue due to his penchant to call for prosecution(rightly so) of people especially those accused of crime. The latest being that of Ali Modu Sheriff. I think Soyinka is liable for all the atrocities being perpetrated in our higher institutions today by the various cult groups. Though not a fan of Sheriff, i feel that Soyinka lacks the moral standing to lend his voice on national issues especially crimes because his hands are not clean.
