Before making your judgement on Cobb Chair Tim Lees plan to change - TopicsExpress

Before making your judgement on Cobb Chair Tim Lees plan to change his vote on MUST financing, please consider the part of the story the MDJ is leaving out of their coverage. This item was on the consent agenda. Normally, this is a list of non-controversial items agreed to in advance. Not in Cobb, though. In Cobb, the list is built by the County manager, then passed to commissioners for their approval. Its up to them to go through the list, do the research and request items to be dropped (remove their consent). They get the list late Thursday and have to vote Tuesday. The MUST funding was in the consent agenda, Commissioner Cupid saw it and had reached an agreement that the item be removed. However, when she showed up for the meeting, it was there. In this one minute, one second segment, Cupid requests to remove the item and Lee attempts to block her. Thankfully, County attorney Debra Dance stepped in and informed Lee that the rules allow a commissioner to remove their consent. This is but one of many times Lee brutalized Cupid for trying to do her job during that meeting. After over a decade of this type of treatment to all that oppose, someone apparently had the courage to step forward and question the fairness and legality of this action. Apparently, Lee feels hes in legal jeopardy. Its unknown in my circles whether or not a recusal will have any impact on a legal challenge. The conjecture is, though, that this could form the basis for the ethics commission to ignore it because it gives them an opportunity to pretend it never happened because the record was changed. This is another distorted narrative with the distortion centered on the basic editorial decision of what to leave in, what to leave out. Just as happened in Kennesaw.
